CARBON MONOXIDE IS A SILENT KILLER AND FIREFIGHTERS ARE AT INCREASED RISK FOR CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE AND PREMATURE DEATH DUE TO CO EXPOSURE ACCORDING TO THE JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION AND THE NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE.

LEARN ABOUT A NEW WAY TO TREAT FIREFIGHTERS, EMERGENCY PERSONNEL AND CIVILIANS IN THE FIELD FOR CO EXPOSURE OR SMOKE INHALATION.

It has been documented that firefighters and others including miners are at increased risk for carbon monoxide poisoning due to the closed space environments in which they operate. According to the USFA 11.3% of firefighter deaths in 1999-2000 were related to poisoning or asphyxiation and The New England Journal of Medicine, Volume 356:2535-2537, June 14, 2007 Number 24 demonstrated strong correlation between CO poisoning and coronary heart disease and mortality in firefighters.

Normally, the half life of carboxyhemoglobin is four to six hours. Through HBO therapy, the effective half-life of carboxyhemoglobin can be decreased to 22 minutes.

HBO therapy should be strongly considered for patients who have altered mental status, coma, focal neurological deficits, patients who are pregnant and have a carboxyhemoglobin level great than 15%, and patients with a history of a loss of consciousness.

The Hyperlite is a portable and flexible hyperbaric chamber that provides 100% oxygen on demand through a BIBS mask or hood while pressurized with air and is suitable for deployment at the emergency response scene including fire scenes, mine accident scenes, emergency dive recovery sites, hospitals, and on emergency transport aircraft including helicopters, boats, ambulances or other road vehicles.

Please come by and visit our booth for a chance to win a drawing every four hours.
